Father Justin (Popovich)
Father Justin Popovich, archimandrite and spiritual father of the Chelije monastery, was born in Vranje to father Spiridon and mother Anastasia, on the Feast of the Annunaciation (Blagovesti) in 1894 and therefore was given the name Blagoje (from Blagovest = Annunciation) at baptism. There was a long line of priests in Justin Popovich’s family, for seven consecutive generations up to his grandfather, priest Alexa, so that young Blagoje adopted a godly way of life and had acquired an ecclesiastical education in his pious family from his early childhood …
